Another week gone by!!

As I'm sure you can probably tell, I haven't had internet access most of the week again. This week has been pretty uneventful, so I guess that's good!! We spent a lot of time at home just hanging out. I guess that was good for us since all three of us seem pretty content at the moment. Friday, we finally got the replacement voucher for our recalled crib, so we borrowed my in-law's Expedition and headed up to Tigard to pick out a new one. The voucher covered $279.99, so we thought we would have a pretty good selection--WRONG!! Every crib we liked was either close or over $400 or not in stock and we would have to go back in another 2 weeks to pick it up. They said that they couldn't ship it to us in Salem. We ended up finding one we liked, but it only cost $179.99 so we felt like we got jipped out of $100. Oh well...Malachi is helping Samuel put it together as I type so hopefully Malachi will be able to sleep in a real crib tonight!! Yay!!

Tomorrow, Samuel starts a new job at a cell phone company call center. The last job he had was helping people who were behind in their mortgage avoid collections. They haven't had any work for him in 2 months, which boggles my mind when you hear how awful the market is right now. Luckily, he has been getting sent home every day with pay, otherwise we would be in huge trouble!! During the last couple weeks of July, he found out that he wasn't getting paid anymore when they sent him home, so he amped up the job search (luckily, he found the new job through someone we know at church!!). He found out on Tuesday that he has been laid off since the end of July (it would have been nice to have been told!!). This is exactly what we have been hoping for since we can claim unemployment now!!! This job is a blessing since they are starting him out $1 higher per hour than his last job and it sounds like there is more room for advancement. It will also be nice for him to have steady work again and paychecks we can depend on, but the only crummy thing is that the hours for 8 weeks of training are 1:30 to 10:00 pm. He is bummed since he won't be able to spend as much time as with Malachi as he is accustomed to, but at least it's only for 8 weeks, right?!?

In preparation for our trip to Sunriver at the end of the month, we bought Malachi a bike helmet so he can ride with us. He fit the measurements for a 3 year old size helmet, and with an extra pad in the front, it fits perfectly. It also came with knee and elbow pads, and he has fun running around the house with all his gear on. Here's a cute picture I got...(look at all that arm chub, his legs are even worse!!:)
I have also been having fun playing with our new camera. Here's some kinda neat shots I got this week: Yes, that is part of a puff we found there after he woke up from his nap. Saving it for later??

The only Cosmo that bloomed out of 2 seed packets I planted. Hopefully I can do better next year!!
Wild blackberries from our backyard...yummy!!
