The Zoo

Since Samuel has the week off, and the weather was nice, I decided to leave work early on Thursday so that we could head to the zoo. We were bummed while we were driving up because it seemed kind of overcast, but once we got there, the weather really turned nice. It was so much fun. Malachi was really into all the fish and the sea lions and got really excited and yelled a lot...I think he was the loudest kid there sometimes. He also liked petting the goats in the barnyard area, except that his idea of petting the goats meant pulling on their ears. I'm glad they are patient goats. I was really hoping that Malachi would nap on the car ride up so he would be awake the entire time we were at the zoo, but no such luck, so I was a little worried that he might miss part of it. With one exhibit left, he asked for his blanket and started sucking his thumb, but he stayed awake for all of the animals. I was hoping he would get to see the giraffe since his room is all giraffes and he recognizes them on TV, but it was in the last part. When he saw it, he took his thumb out of his mouth, perked up a bit, pointed for several seconds and then leaned back and started sucking again. Oh well...I'm sure there will be plenty of other times to get excited about the giraffes in the future!! On the way out to the car, he finally crashed...he didn't even stir when we transferred him into the car! Here are some pictures!!

How crazy is this... we *almost* went to the zoo today... though I notice you didn't go today but on thursday....

I remember when Grace was a baby she went and saw the birds in their hut exhibit and just laughed and laughed. It's neat to hear he got really loud, it must be so exciting for babies to see real wild animals....
