3.14.10--Natalie's Birthday

This year marked Natalie's 4th birthday. My how time has flown. We had spent quite a bit of time trying to decide what we should do to commorate the day, but just couldn't settle on anything specific. The weather was iffy, so we were hesitant to spend time outside, but since her birthday fell on a Sunday this year, we didn't really want to go to some place indoors for the kids because we didn't want to deal with crowds. We decided to skip church to leave our day more open, and then ended up spending time at the park after nap time. Both of the kids had fun playing and being outside.

After dinner, Malachi helped me make some cupcakes (colored purple of course!). I had found some silicone butterfly cupcake cups awhile back at the Target Dollar Spot, so I was really excited to finally be able to use them. We lit four candles and sang Happy Birthday to Natalie in Heaven and enjoyed our treats.

This year was a little bit harder in different ways than we expected. Malachi was asking a lot more questions...where is Natalie?...why aren't there any presents? I'm glad that he is starting to understand more, but at the same time it makes things a little bit more sad to have to explain these things to a two year old.
Happy Birthday, Natalie!! We hope you had as much fun with Jesus on your birthday as we did here! We love you lots and lots and can't wait to see you again!
