One year stats...

I forgot to mention Sapphira's measurements on her one year post. The Monday after her birthday, we took her for her well baby check and she measured 27.5 inches tall (8th percentile), she weighted 20 pounds 1.5 ounces (around the 29th percentile), and her head was 46 centimeters around (75th percentile! eeeek!). I just can't get over how little she is compared to her brother at this age...Malachi was 25 pounds 1.5 ounces and 31 inches tall at 12 months!! Everyone keeps telling me that all children are different and do things at their own pace, which I understand, but I just never thought I would have two children on such opposite ends of the spectrum. Maybe we'll have a tall boy like their paternal grandfather (he was 7'1"!!!) and a little girl like her Grandma (she's barely 5 feet tall!!). I guess combined they'll be able to do all kinds of things!!!

4.1.10--One year!

I just can't believe my little girl is already one. Having more than one child at home definitely makes things go by more quickly!

Here is this month's official Molly picture...She is wearing 6-9 month clothing and size 4 diapers. She says "Dada" a lot, and it sometimes actually means Daddy, but she says it to a lot of people! :) She continues to be very curious about the world around her and loves to point and ask about things she sees. She is such a sweetheart and is quite sensitive...all you have to do is look at or speak to her sternly and she melts, and then big brother comes to the rescue (once he got mad at my mom after she had to swat Sapphira and said, "don't spank my baby!"). She is also quite stubborn and determined...once she's put her mind to something, it is hard to get her to stop...playing with power cords and licking other people's shoes are both things that we struggle with at our house. She continues to love her big brother and they really like to play together. Malachi will crawl on the floor with her and she will just laugh and laugh and bury her face in the carpet and laugh some more. She is a big eater (3-4 jars of baby food plus some puffs or/and crackers at each meal) although she isn't crazy about table food and prefers to have baby food and puffs, but her favorite is to have a quarter of a graham cracker in each hand. That will almost always quiet her down. She is just the perfect addition to our family and we can't imagine life without her.

For Sapphira's actual birthday, Malachi decided we should eat at Red Robin. We had fun and the waitresses even sang to her and gave her ice cream which she shared with her brother and cousins. Afterwards, we went back to our house and eat a bit of cake and opened a gift from brother...an orange teddy bear! Ga-Ga finally found one!! Messy sundae face! Orange teddy bear from Brother...she likes to hug it!

Calling for my cake!
Good stuff!

Eleven Months!!!

How can Sapphira be 11 months already?!? Crazy-ness! So, she is finally wearing 6-9 month clothing and size 4 diapers, has her two top teeth, is crawling like crazy, and loves to play and play and play! She is pretty good at keeping up with Brother, says "Da-Da" (pretty sure she knows what it means, too!), sometimes "Ma-Ma", and points and says "Wh-st" (what's that?) like Malachi did around this age. She loves to point at Daddy and yell...sooooo cute! Here's the official 11 month Molly picture...

Feeling soooo much better today!!! Yay!!!

2.1.10--10 months!!

10 months already??? Incredible! Sapphira now is a champion crawler, can roll in a line to things (but doesn't much anymore since she can crawl so well!), and loves to pull herself up to her knees. She is still nursing great!! Malachi had already stopped by this age. She is a chatty Cathy and is almost always making noise of some sort. We have gotten into a fairly predictable nap schedule...one in mid morning and then one late afternoon while brother sleeps. She goes down to bed between 9 and 10 and wakes just once to eat and is right back to sleep and wakes around 9, that is if brother doesn't have anything to do with it! hahaha! Still in size 3 diapers and 3-6 month clothing. Those top two teeth are just right there and sometimes you can see them and you think they have broken through, but no such luck yet! Here's her official 10 month Molly picture:

1.1.10--9 months

At nine months, Sapphira weighs 18 pounds, 1.5 ounces (35th percentile), is 27.5 inches tall (46th) percentile and has a head circumference of 46.5 centimeters (96th percentile--ha!). She is still in size 3 diapers, in 3-6 month clothing (0-3 are pretty snug, but still doable!) and is quite the sweet little girl. We are soooo close to crawling--she'll get on her hands and knees and rock. She is also quite the babbler and will carry on quite the conversation. Malachi can always make her laugh (when he isn't hitting her or taking toys from her! oy). She continues to be quite the momma's girl...Daddy has a hard time getting her to sleep unless I leave the room completely. Still a champion nurser! She usually goes down for an hour nap around 10:30 am and then another around 3 pm. She's a night girl like momma and usually goes down for bed between 10 and 11 pm and wakes up once to eat and is up for the day around 9 am. She is starting to wave, but her version is a bit reminiscent of Hilter...hehehehe! Here's our official 9 month Molly picture (I didn't get around to these until like the 15th or so and it was, as you can tell, a rushed crummy light, do-it-before-we-forget "photoshoot"!)

Have I ever mentioned how much I just love this little girl?! :)

12.1.09--8 months!

At 8 months, Sapphira is wearing a size 3 diaper, is still in 3-6 month clothes (0-3 are starting to get snug now!), loves to eat vegetables, still only has her bottom two teeth (although those top ones keep threatening to pop!) and is just a fun little girl…her personality is really starting to show. Now that she is starting to play with toys more, Malachi is getting more possessive of his playthings, but they will have to get used to each other. Although they don’t always get along, Malachi can always make Sapphira giggle! Here’s this month’s official Molly picture!

Such a sweetheart!!!

11.1.09--7 months old!

I can hardly believe it!! 7 months old already??? Ok, lets see...she is a pro at sitting up, still working on the rolling thing, not crazy at all about food (she gags so hard she throws up...I think it's the texture!), loves to play with her toys and brother. She is wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes, but her 0-3 size still fits fine! We switched her to size 3 diapers because we can get them cheaper in the box at Target. Crazy girl is still so small! Here's our official Molly picture!!

10.1.09--6 months old!

I can't believe my little girl is already 6 months old! She is still soooo close to rolling over, in size 2 diapers, and is starting to wear 3-6 month clothing (although some if it is still too big!). At her 6 month appointment, she weighed 15 pounds 8 ounces (36th percentile), was 25.5 inches long (37th percentile) and her head was 45 cm around (96th percentile!!!! hahaha). She is so sweet and lovey...she loves to cuddle and likes just about everyone, but will almost always chose to be held by mommy! :) Here is this month's official Molly picture...

When Malachi was down for his nap, we took her outside since it was so warm. Of course Mommy had to get the camera out since it was so nice and I thought I got some pretty cute pictures.

9.1.09--Sapphira at 5 months

My sweet girl is already 5 months old!!! I can hardly believe it! She is getting so interactive and is in love with her brother! Still in 0-3 month clothing and size 2 diapers...she's so little! Lots of her clothes still have plenty of room in them!! That'll teach me to buy ahead! hehe She continues to be a very loud and talkative girl and is happy to carry on conversations with whomever (or whatever!) will listen!! She is a good sleeper and has gotten herself into a pretty good nighttime routine...both kids are usually in bed by9pm! YeeHaw! She is this close to rolling over from her back to tummy. She'll get herself all the way up on her side with her hip past center but that pesky elbow just gets in the way. She'll get it one of these days! She can roll from her stomach to back, but I don't think she always remembers that she can do it so she does it infrequently. She is really starting to enjoy spending time lying on her back on the floor by herself with a few toys and will actually play on her tummy a few times a day. Sometimes she is actually fussy because she wants to be put down!

Here is the official 5 month Molly picture!
What a happy little girl!!!

8.1.09--Sapphira at 4 months

4 months old...cant be! At her 4 month well baby check she was 24 1/4 inches long (50th percentile), 13 pounds, 5 ounces (41st percentile), and her head measured 43 cm (91st percentile!!!). Crazy...has a big head like her Papa and brother. She continues to be a little bitty girl...still in 0-3 month clothing and size 2 diapers. She smiles and giggles like crazy and is quite the talker! She has to keep up with her brother! :) She has also found her feet and when she's sitting (especially in her swing) she loves to play with and pull on them. She is in love with Malachi and watches him play all day long and often he can get her to stop crying by simply getting up close and talking to her. He is such a big brother...always getting toys for her to play with or handing me a burp rag or my boppy with sis needs to eat...so sweet! Here is her official 4 month Molly picture...
I just love this picture...such a happy little girl!!!

Sapphira at 3 months

Here is this month's official Molly picture...
We even got her to smile...so adorable!
She loves to watch her brother play and often when she is fussy, we can ask Malachi to talk to her, dance in front of her, or show her the toy he is playing with and she will calm down. She is definitely a Daddy's girl and always has a smile or giggle ready for him. Sis is quite the talker...she goes on and on sometimes about some very serious issues!! She is still so tiny!! It wasn't until she was just about 12 weeks old that she finally started fitting into most 0-3 month clothes!! She is thin around the middle so pants and skirts are harder to keep up, but things like onesies fit pretty good in length. She is still in size 1 diapers, although I think that will be changing soon since they aren't quite long enough to keep her hind end covered all the time if she is squirmy. Just such a contrast from her big bubba...
Gosh I love my little ones!!!

2 years and 2 months

Malachi went in for his 2 year check up in the middle of May. He measured in at 31 pounds (82nd percentile) and 34.5 inches tall (50th percentile). A while ago, I posted that Malachi was 3 feet 5 inches tall...I got that information from Samuel...not quite right. The measurement they took still was a little too short, since he was kind of stooping over and trying to see what they were doing to him, but not as tall as Samuel said. I think that we'll still have a tall kid on our hands, just maybe not as tall as Samuel had though! ha

Sapphira's 2 month check went very well. She measured in at 10 pounds, 10 ounces (44th percentile) and 22 inches long (36th percentile). She continues to be so petite!!! Crazy!!! Malachi was 15 pounds and 7 ounces (off the chart) and 24 3/4 inches long (97th percentile). This just boggles my mind! They said she's doing fine, she is just much smaller than her brother. I guess we'll just have a mini-me and a chunk-ster for a while longer!

Sapphira at 2 months

I can't find the little paper that the doctor's office wrote her stats on...I'll have to find that and post it later.

One month old!

I can hardly believe that Sapphira is one month old already!!! With Malachi, each month we took a picture with his Build-a-Bear doggie named Buddy. For Sapphira, we made a Build-a-Bear kitty and named her Molly so we can continue the monthly tradition.
Here's the official one month Molly picture:

One year ago...

Ok, so last time I reminisced on my blog like this, I was feeling very sad. But this time is much more happy. So at this time one year ago, I was lying in a very uncomfortable hospital bed, trying to get some rest and begging for sleeping meds. My doctor and nurses said I would probably be in active labor (maybe even pushing!!) by this time, but I had yet to feel a single contraction. I remember feeling so discouraged (they should never predict when the baby will come...it's never right and makes you feel awful!!!), anxious and nervous about labor and delivery, but most of all very excited about meeting my son. It is amazing what a single year can do!! Life has changed drastically, but definitely for the better. So here are Malachi and I are one year ago...
And here is our official 12 month Buddy picture (a day early, I know, but I don't think that I will have time to take it tomorrow!!)
There is not a day that goes by when I don't thank the Lord for my beautiful children. I am so blessed. I absolutely love being a mommy to a baby at home and look forward to all the fun and interesting things that the next year will bring. Love ya lots and lots Malachi!

11 months

April 10th marked Malachi's 11 month birthday. Lets see...we are crawling on our hands and knees (only sometimes because army crawling is just so much faster and easier!!), copying noises and sounds from everyone and everything (he LOVES to bark like the doggies) and is getting closer to saying "dog" and "cat". He pulls himself up on EVERYTHING and is very quick at cruising and walking with help. I think we are getting close to taking our first steps. He will grab something while he is standing up and then let go of what he is holding himself up with. He will stand there for several seconds until he realizes that he let go and then either fall down or grab a hold again. We are very good at eating table foods now and his favorites are grilled cheese sandwiches and bananas and loves it when you hold it for him and he takes bites like a big kid. We are so much better at getting enough to drink again, but only likes drinking milk...no juice, no water...only milk. This last week, he figured out how to go from laying down to sitting up and he is very good at it! His favorite thing to do is stand at the window and talk to the dogs and watch everything that is going on. He is so curious about and notices the little things...the birds in the trees, bugs on the window...and gets very excited about them. He loves ANYTHING with wheels, and gets very excited whenever he sees a school bus, garbage truck or any other big truck. He is such a little boy!! I just can't believe that the next monthly post will detail his 1st birthday!! Where did the time go?!?
Here's the official Buddy picture for this month.

It was very difficult to get any pictures this month...we have too much to do to sit for a picture. So finally Daddy had to put him in his lap and Mommy put Malachi's Easter basket on her head like a hat!! haha I'm sure that was a sight!!

10 months

Malachi turned 10 months old last Monday (sorry I didn't get to this sooner, buddy...sissy's special days distracted me a little bit!). I just can't believe how old he is getting! (I know that I say that every month! haha) We went to a one year birthday party for one of his buddies over the weekend and it really started to hit me that it was our turn next. I remember how quickly the months of what would have been Natalie's first year flew by and didn't think that Malachi's could zoom by even more quickly!! Crazy!!
We are getting to be such a big boy! His favorite thing is cruising along furniture and toys and is getting really quick, too! His favorite toy is still his Leap Frog Table, but he plays with all of the toys we have out every day. He can pull himself up now. It is a bit of a challenge right now, but with a bit more practice, he'll have it down pat! He has stopped rolling as much and has mastered the army crawl...he's getting very quick! I am really having to concentrate on keeping the living room floor clean, otherwise I am running all over keeping him out of things all day! He sleeps through the night every night...he's only woken up during the night once in the last 2 weeks!! I am so thankful for that!! haha He is still a huge chow hound at every meal, but we are having a hard time getting him to drink much of anything since he stopped nursing. We offer him a bottle a couple times a day and he will drink a couple ounces and then just play with it or through it across the room (he's got quite the arm, but the way!). We have also tried several types of sippy cups, giving him a small regular cup, droppers...nothing seems to do the trick. His Dr said that he needs to be drinking three 8 ounce bottles a day--HA! He hasn't had that much fluid in one day since he stopped nursing. Hopefully he will start to take an interest in drinking again soon so we don't have to take him back to the Dr...any suggestions anyone??
Here is the official 10 month Buddy shot. Here are some other cute pictures we took last week. Gotta love this kid!

9 months old!

Ok finally getting around to putting up Malachi's 9 month Buddy shot. Didn't get as many good ones this month...too squirmy!!!So this month...his two top, front teeth finally poked through and are working their way in. Still no crawling, but he really doesn't need to...he can roll just as fast!! He does the Army crawl with his forearms, and gets up on his hands or elbow and knees occasionally, but I think crawling will be a couple weeks away at least if he does it at all. He LOVES to walk. Grandma Ramos has been working with him and he can take good, strong steps and walk across the room, no problem (with support, of course!) His favorite toy is his Leap Pad table that Grandma and Papa Ramos got him for Christmas and stand and plays at it for several periods of time each day. He is starting to sleep through the night once or twice a week, but when he doesn't, he's up for at least an hour in the middle of the night. Uggg...not Mommy's favorite. A pretty good...not to mention quick...month!!
Here's another picture we took on Malachi's 9 month birthday. We took him to Waterfront Park and let him ride on the carousel...not sure what he thought of that, but he enjoyed the walk we took afterward. I thought this picture was pretty cute. More new pictures on Flickr

9 month pictures

We got Malach's professional 9 month pictures taken on the 2nd and got the online version back yesterday. These turned out really cute!

We learned a lesson with them...we were 4 minutes late by their clocks...they ran faster than ours!!...so they got kind of snippy with us and didn't take nearly as many pictures as they have in the past. Guess we need to be early in the future even when we are the first one's on the schedule!! I still need to get the Buddy pictures of my camera...will do this weekend!!
